For the month of April 2021, I’ll be creating a multi-faceted branding & content marketing value proposition for Outsourced Sales & Marketing company, JumpCrew. The focus of this project will be centered around improving a facet of their social media content, specifically regarding their YouTube channel and Instagram profile. After completing the content creation aspect of the challenge, I plan to introduce myself to them via email outreach.

  • I’m currently on Week 2 of this Challenge and this post will consist of one of the main deliverables I worked on.

The Task

▶ Create two Instagram videos that consist of short-form content derived from their long-form content on YouTube.

JumpCrew’s videos (source material):

Video 1 | Video 2

▶ Make a 30–60 second video clip of an informative segment taken from the above videos. One for each video. Formatting and exporting them to be optimized for Instagram. Add closed-captioning to the videos to increase visual engagement, in addition to incorporating other branding elements. Write copy for the captions that would accompany these posts.

What I Did

▶ Here are the two mock Instagram video posts for the JumpCrew Instagram that I’ve created:

Mock IG Video Post for JumpCrew (1 of 2)
Mock IG Video Post for JumpCrew (2 of 2)
How the video posts would look on Instagram.
Mock caption copy for Instagram (video 1 of 2)
Mock caption copy for Instagram (video 2 of 2)

Thought Process (why I did what I did)

Instagram Video Posts

I thought the long-form podcast/interview videos on YouTube were great! I noticed certain segments within each video contained informative bits that would work well on Instagram as part of a general content marketing strategy.

For example, if a user discovers this post as the result of a brand awareness ad, the overwhelming value the post itself provides may cause the user to:

  • Follow the JumpCrew profile to know more.
  • Which could then lead the user to watch the full version of the video on their YouTube.
  • The user possibly subscribes to their YouTube channel.
  • They then share the content with their own network.
  • Possible business is garnered whether directly or indirectly as a result.

This is a microcosm of what a post like this can potentially provide.

Aesthetically, I decided to include subtitles within the videos because posts displayed on the Instagram feed are on mute by default, so when a user is exposed to this post for the first time, having subtitles combats the fact that the audio won’t be playing initially. Seeing that can trigger an action from the user that’ll make them unmute the post to hear it and consume the piece of content in its full capacity.
